Last week we took a day to check out Tantallon Castle. This castle has been on my wishlist of places to visit for a while, but we have never had the opportunity to check it out. I’m glad my parents we here to see it with us!

Tantallon Castle was built in the 14th century and lies south of Edinburgh on the North Sea. Its history is rich. Much of its long list of tenants were those who were heavily involved with the politics surrounding Scottish and British Royalty, making it a place shrouded in prestige. Among the many stories that make up Tantallon’s history, one of my favorites is that this majestic place became the refuge for a covert raiding party who undermined several operations of the huge invading English army during, led by Oliver Cromwell, during the civil war in 1650.

Here are a few photos from our day.
