A good bit of our week has been learning our way around our area. One way we’ve been doing that is driving. As you can imagine, two Americans learning to drive in the U.K. could be the subject of many funny stories. Though it has been a little stressful at times, we have done well so far. We’ve stayed on the correct side of the road and have all but mastered the round about! I can’t say that we haven’t gotten lost yet. But we’ve discovered over the years that the best way to learn a new city or area is to find your way back from being lost.
It’s been a lot of fun going through this. The last week I have been taken back to when I first got my driver’s license as a teenager. Just like teenagers know so well, I have rediscovered how much having the ability to drive brings with it such a feeling of freedom! I remember not caring much where the destination was, as long as I could drive my car there. This week has rekindled a bit of that in me. Unfortunately, Eli has had to go on all of these mini-road trips with us. As you can see, he had loved every one.
