D and I decided to try something different this year as we did the whole support trip this summer. We decided that instead of speaking in churches, we would meet with smaller groups, organized by some people who already partner with us. At those smaller gatherings we would then perform several of the songs I’ve written about life here and tell the stories behind them.

D and I played 5 concerts in 6 days on the mini tour covering most of AL and parts of MS. It was a lot of fun, but draining. I didn’t expect it to be so tiring of an experience. Leading worship takes it out of me, but for some reason I didn’t think performing would be as draining. Wrong. This has been the first time I’ve ever really performed. I was a little concerned about my lack of performance experience, but by the end it began to feel natural. I’ve led tons of people in worship, but never performed before people.

Because it was this type of trip we didn’t get to see a lot of our friends that we normally see, which was sad. However, we were able to connect with some friends of ours who used to be in Boston- the M’s and the H’s. It was so, so good to see each of them and be encouraged by both.
